March 22nd Camera Club Meeting Minutes....

Image
Glacier Camera Club held its first in-person meeting in many months! What a fun reunion!  Happy conversation filled the air.  Thanks to all of you for help setting up and coaxing the old camera club laptop and projector to adapt to a new location.  We liked the newly remodeled library community room very much, but the library's policy does not let us lock in an on-going reservation.  We will meet again next month, April 14th at the library.     Hot topics of conversation included:  the new herd bull elk at the Bison Range, and lions and bighorns on Wild Horse Island. Gary brought his huge beautiful prints including one of an island made of turtles.   Frank showed a celebratory jam session at the Polebridge Northern Lights Saloon and magic hour light on snowghosts.   Dee documented a properly equipped Whitefish car and the surface of city beach after the Penguin Plunge.   Madelynne showed the soft colors of rose petals, and the monoc...

Image
After a long break for camera club, we will meet at the Whitefish Library at 6 PM March 10th & April 14th.  We are also looking for ideas for meeting locations.   There is parking next to the library or on the street.  Everyone will fend for themselves for food this time around.  You can bring anything that you would like except for alcohol. Google Map to Whitefish Library Please bring images to show, under 20 LoRez images, anything with resolution of 2,000 pixels should work with our old projector.   Photo by Marguerite Amstadt from the Whitefish Ski Joring 2022....

We had a nice Online Google Meet up last Thursday.  We had a new member join the meeting, Sidney Stone.  He recently moved here from Washington DC and is part of 2 clubs back East.  Welcome Sidney, we are always looking for advice and suggestions on keeping our club going. I received a notification that Scott McClelland is doing a MeetUp 10/30/2021 5:00 PM Apgar.  I am not sure if need to login to MeetUp to join or just show up.  Here is the info from Scott "If you're interested in attending this meetup, we will gather in the small Apgar parking lot close to the lake shore, adjacent to Apgar Village Lodge & Cabins at around 5-5:30pm. This is an outdoor event, and masks are not required. However, if you are feeling ill, please stay home!" Large-Format Slide Show to Highlight Original Photos from E.B. Gilliland 8.18.2021 6PM -CANCELLED

Image
Postponed to due COVID concerns - this even will not take place at this time When NWMTHS founder and longtime Kalispell photographer Ed Gilliland passed away last September, he undoubtedly left a hole that many will struggle to fill, the Museum included. But he also left behind his photography, which was his driving passion in life and captured Montana skies like few have done before or since. Photography historian and NWMTHS board member Arne Boveng will present a “analog film night” of Ed’s photography on Wednesday, August 18 , from 6 - 8 pm at the Northwest Montana History Museum.  This will not be your typical digital or Kodak Carousel slide show - all the slides that Arne will present are larger format, at least two or three times larger than the typical 35 mm. The brilliance, clarity, and precision of these slides (which are mounted between glass plates) is far greater than nearly any other photograp...
